Problems, and what I decided.

Clients are named; their systems are described by shape rather than internal name. In each case the decision is the part worth reading. The full archive of delivered systems follows.

Six case studies

Qatargas · QatarEnergy LNGState-owned LNG producer, Doha2011 – 2020 · Pricing evaluation

Every department forecast on market prices. None of them shared the same numbers.

Marketing, finance and planning each kept their own price feeds and spreadsheets. Vessel-diversion decisions, which move a cargo from one customer to another, were evaluated on assumptions nobody could reproduce a month later.

The decisionTreat the price data as an enterprise asset with one owner, one schedule and a captured snapshot per decision. Scheduled Bloomberg and Reuters ingestion, an economic model for diversion opportunities, point-in-time assumption capture, and dashboards on the SAP Portal and mobile.

+1.2 billion QAR (~$330M) in contract savings enabled · single source of price truth for a decade

EricssonTelecom · BCSS security analytics, Stockholm2022 · Lead analytics architect

A security platform that had to scale with the threat, not with the headcount

Compliance and vulnerability findings arrived faster than analysts could triage across the delivery pipelines. Adding reviewers would only have moved the bottleneck.

The decisionSeparate ingestion from analysis so throughput and expertise could scale independently. Azure Data Factory and Databricks for volume and correlation; Spring Boot services, a Vue portal and Power BI for the judgement calls that need a person.

+50% detection throughput · −25% operating cost · award-winning platform

Clas OhlsonRetail, Stockholm2021 · Cloud solutions architect

Cloud governance engineers would follow rather than route around

A large Azure estate had grown faster than the rules meant to govern it. Policy issued as an edict gets bypassed.

The decisionBuild governance as defaults: make the compliant path the path of least resistance, and publish the target architecture and its reasoning in a TOGAF-aligned repository so teams have somewhere real to look. Adoption follows understanding.

+50% Azure policy compliance · enterprise architecture repository established · SAFe rollout supported

QatarEnergy LNGControl-room operations, Doha2025 – 2026 · Alarm shelving override + ESMS

Turning a continuous stream of plant telemetry into a shift decision somebody signs for

Shelving an alarm is sometimes necessary and always risky. The question was not storage of events but how a crew records an override that carries an approver, a timestamp, an asset scope and a trail an auditor can follow years later.

The decisionTreat override authority as a system in its own right rather than a feature inside shift management. Two systems with an explicit contract kept the audit boundary sharp and let each change on its own schedule: sequential endorsement, conflict detection and role-plus-asset scoped authorisation.

Unified operating picture for day and night shifts · clearer handovers · safe, continuous plant operations

Qatargas & RasGasPost-merger integration, Doha2018 – 2020 · SAP PI/PO architecture

Two enterprises, one process estate, and the part nobody scopes correctly

The interfaces were the visible work and the least of it. The hard problem was process state: thousands of long-running approvals, changes and correspondence threads sitting mid-flight in two different worlds, each with its own rules about what a half-finished thing means.

The lesson I carryEstimate integration by the state in motion, not by the count of interfaces. It changes the plan, the cutover design, and the honest answer you give a steering committee.

Recognised for pivotal contribution to the merger integration programme

QatarEnergy LNGEnterprise workflows, Doha2023 – 2026 · Partners management + Management of Change

Five thousand stakeholders, dozens of departments, and workflows that change faster than releases

Contract correspondence with external partners and internal change management both needed approval flows that business owners could reshape without a development cycle, while every step stayed auditable across Azure, SAP and custom systems.

The decisionSeparate the workflow definition from the application: a dynamic workflow engine and a unified portal, with a standardised audit-trail contract shared by the partner platform and the MoC framework. Later extended with agentic AI for document-heavy approvals, kept inside guardrails and human review.

5,000+ stakeholders on one change framework · external partners and internal teams on one portal
