About

An engineer who never stopped building, and an architect who never stopped asking why.

Portrait of Mohamed Sobhy Elkamhawy

I have been tinkering with software since the mid-nineties and turned professional in 2004, building enterprise applications in C# and .NET. Two decades on, the work is still the same at heart: understand the real problem, then carry it to a running system.

Before that came the engineering degree years in C, C++ and Pascal, which is where the habit of caring how things work underneath was formed.

Most of that time has been spent inside large enterprises — a decade at Qatargas, now QatarEnergy LNG, then Ericsson and Clas Ohlson in Stockholm, then back to Doha as principal architect. The work has ranged across digital transformation programmes, legacy modernisation and cloud migration, custom enterprise software, and extending SAP and Microsoft platforms to fit how a business actually runs. Lately it includes the careful introduction of agentic AI into processes that cannot afford a wrong answer.

What I care about is the seam: where requirements meet architecture, where data crosses a boundary, where a process outlives the system that started it. That is where programmes are won or lost, and it is where I do my best work.

Outside client work I mentor architects and speak on distributed systems; I co-founded the TekOps community at QRIOS and spoke regularly at its Tech Night events.
